Nikhita Gandhi (born 1 October 1991) is an accomplished Indian playback singer who has made significant contributions to Indian cinema, singing in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Bengali, and Kannada languages.

Gandhi gained widespread recognition as the voice behind Deepika Padukone’s title track “Raabta” in the film “Raabta.” Her duet with Arijit Singh, “Ullu Ka Pattha” from the film “Jagga Jasoos,” became a major hit. She has lent her voice to numerous Hindi films, including “Sachin: A Billion Dreams,” “Jab Harry Met Sejal,” “Kedarnath,” “Luka Chuppi,” “Sooryavanshi,” and “Tiger 3.” In addition, she has sung Bengali and Tamil songs for movies such as “Leo,” “Varisu,” “Cockpit,” and “Kishmish.” Her popular tracks also include “Aao Kabhi Haveli Pe” and “Poster Lagwa Do,” with her collaboration with Badshah on the song “Jugnu” becoming a viral sensation.
Born in Kolkata to a Bengali-Punjabi family, Nikhita spent her early years in Chennai while completing her graduation. She trained in Odissi dance and Hindustani music for nearly 12 years. She attended La Martiniere for Girls in Kolkata and moved to Chennai in 2010 to pursue a degree in dentistry. A former student at A. R. Rahman’s K. M. College of Music and Technology, her first major collaboration with Rahman was during an Indo-German exchange program, where she performed with a German orchestra as part of a choir. Rahman later auditioned her for a commercial project titled ‘Qyuki’ with Shekhar Kapur.
In 2012, Nikhita released a Bengali album titled “Kotha,” which featured rearranged Nazrul Geeti songs by the renowned poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. Her breakthrough came in 2015 with the song “Ladio” from Shankar’s film “I,” composed by A. R. Rahman. She recorded the song in just four hours and later did the Telugu and Hindi versions, earning critical acclaim. She also worked on Rahman’s “O Kadhal Kanmani” and Anirudh’s “Thanga Magan” in 2015.
Apart from her film work, Nikhita has formed a band and performed in various cities, including Kerala and Kolkata. Her five-member band includes Sajith Sathya, Jerard Felix, Godfrey Immanuel, and Joshua Gopal.
Gandhi has been recognized for her talent with several awards and nominations. She won the Zee Cine Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 2018 for the title track of “Raabta” and was nominated for Best Playback Singer (Female) at the 63rd Filmfare Awards for her song “Ghar” from “Jab Harry Met Sejal.” She also received a nomination at the 3rd Filmfare Awards East for her Bengali song “Tomra Ekhono Ki” from “Meghnad Badh Rahasya.” Her playback for the song “Qaafirana” from “Kedarnath” in November 2018 became a hit, and she won the Nestle Kitkat Sony Mix Audience Music Award for Best Duet for “Qaafirana” alongside Arijit Singh in April 2019.
In 2019, Nikhita released the single “Ek Do Teen” on Zee Music Company, composed by Raees & Zain-Sam, followed by “Madari” from the film “The Extraordinary Journey of The Fakir” with Vishal Dadlani, and “Main Deewana Tera” from “Arjun Patiala.” In 2024, she participated in “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa” as a wild card entrant, although she did not get selected.
